Welcome to our church today
It’s great to share with you at church today. Please make yourself known to our staff if you are visiting.
Update on the Church Springfair – what a great team effort in hot and steamy conditions (I’m not talking about the coffee). Everyone who took part did so with a smile and worked very hard. $12,000 was raised on the day, expenses were $2,500 – so $9,500 has been added to our ministry fund. Over the past 6 weeks, Qsale raised $9000 and Thanksgiving $13,000. These funds are vital for our 2017 ministry and we are deeply thankful for our generous members. Councillor Kent Johns paid tribute to our church and its service to the community and the world beyond our shores. Special thanks to Steve Leitch (Coordinator).
Needy family – I let you know about this need – every item has been beautifully supplied and more. Thank you!
Parish Council update – PC met this week and finalised the 2017 budget. Always an important but stressful exercise. We have retained our current staff and added Matthew Steele-Smith to music and youth ministry. Giving increase has been kept to 4.2%. Staff salary increases set by the Diocese are 1.4% this year.
Improvements to our church building,133 Gymea Bay Rd and Busy Bees were all planned and discussed. A defibrillator has been acquired for the protection of our members and guests through a $2500 grant. Please pray for the success of our grant application for the Busy Bees reno. The respective benefits of church data bases Elvanto and CCB have been researched and thoroughly discussed by Council.
This offers a tax deductable way of contributing to our church’s ministries. There is still $6000 “space” left for donation in 2016. So why not donate this way and give the church the extra that would otherwise go on tax.
Women’s Outreach Flourish Afternoon – 26thNovember 2pm-4pm at church. Book now, just $30.
Men’s Outreach Breakfast with Ex-Sharks player Dave Simmons – 7.30am Sat 3rd December at church – tickets $15 & $10.
Moore College Principal visits Gymea – Dr Mark Thompson will be our guest speaker at all our church meetings on Sunday 4th December. His topic is “The Real Historical Jesus of Christmas”. Invite a friend to this pre-Christmas themed event.
One of our members celebrates a special birthday this week. No names—but confidentially his initials are “Ted Bramble”. Well done Ted!
Your brother in Christ, Graham Crew
