Welcome to our church today
It’s great to share with you at church today. Please make yourself known to our staff if you are visiting.
Remembering a 500th Anniversary
This year marks 500 years since Martin Luther kick started the Reformation by nailing his protest to the door of Wittenberg church. How is the reformation relevant today? This will be the topic of a free seminar to launch our term 2 sermon and Bible study series we are sharing with St Luke’s Miranda. The Principal Dr Mark Thompson will be the guest speaker at St Lukes on Wed. 26th April – I’m suggesting that LIFE groups might start the week following and as many leaders and members attend this rare event. Study guides available by the end of term 1.
Thank you for your support of Anglican Aid Waterworks
$1000’s have been raised and donated by our church members for these vital projects. Thank you to all who have taken part. If you still have funds to hand in—either place these in the Sunday collection or to our office “Waterworks” or go to the AA website, click “donate” and go the Gymea button. Special thanks to Anna & James Leckie and the Little Fins team.
Communications Team Update
In 2017 your staff and Parish Council are working harder than ever for the glory of the Lord Jesus. The Council has appointed teams to ensure our church runs smoothly and our staff can do what we want them to do – lead life changing, Gospel proclaiming ministry.
Several weeks ago I introduced to you the Communications and Technology team, and I’m delighted to announce that in 2017 the team will be expanded and enhanced. Here’s a quick snapshot of how the team is working for you to enable our ministries to be fruitful for the kingdom.
The team arranges the weekly bulletin and maintains the parish calendar. We also maintain the computer, sound, projection and phone systems. Some of these systems received major upgrades and investment in 2016, with over 100 hours of volunteer work completed. Similar work is planned in 2017.
Our website and database will also be upgraded to further enhance our ministry and our face in the community. Fresh branding will be completed, as well as an upgrade to our welcome pack for newcomers. You may have noticed our Facebook page has fresh new look, and our monthly Gospel posters engage the public as they pass by our church in the prayerful hope they kick start thinking about how the Gospel will impact their life.
As you can see, our team is a very busy bunch of volunteers and we will continue to work for you in 2017! If you have any questions (or can offer any assistance in these areas) please contact me.
To be a disciple of Jesus is to follow Jesus. And so for us to make disciples for Jesus (which we’re all commanded to do) is to come alongside others and help them follow Jesus with us. That’s why we’re inviting you all to be involved in our Men’s and Women’s One-to-One bible reading. It’s an opportunity for us help each other (men to men, women to women) follow our Master, Jesus.
What does it look like? Simple: agree on a regular time to meet up (E.g. Tues afternoons) and for how long (e.g. 6 months), meet up for an hour, read the Bible together, discuss how it applies to your lives, pray for each other, finish.
It’s a wonderful opportunity for mutual encouragement and growth.
Sign-up sheets are at the back of the Church – would you consider signing up today?
Your brother in Christ, Graham Crew
