Bishop Isesomo from DRC says “Thank you Gymea”

“Thank you very much for your continual support in prayers and also financially. The political situation in our country is not good at the moment. We have many rebel armed groups everywhere who are disturbing the population. Last month the Residence of our President Joseph Kabila here in Butembo  was burnt by rebels.  We thank our alive God for his continual protection to us and we are still proclaiming the gospel in this sad situation.

“We don’t give up because we believe that one day God will put an end on all those atrocities.  About the guesthouse project, we have 12 bedrooms, reception, the restaurant and office. We are now equipping rooms with beds, tables, wardrobes, bathrooms (Gymea donated $1750 for 6 rooms).  We are also making more bricks (1/4 million were made by hand).  Thank you once again and God bless you.”

Women Pastoring Women

Our Parish Council has for some time been considering if we could employ a women’s pastor.  While we would love to do this finances have not allowed it.  So a number of our women leaders and I have been consulting on how best we can care for the pastoral needs of women.  Already great care is offered via our LIFE groups, Pastoral care ministry and one to one member care.  But we felt more could and should be offered.  After meeting with the Diocesan Archdeacon for women Kara Hartley it was suggested we seek to establish a Women Pastoring Women ministry.

What would this look like?   The idea is NOT to replace any of the care mentioned above, but simply to add another level of care that would be available to women in our church if they wish to take it up.  The aim is to identify, authorise and support a small team of women at each congregation and let our women members know that these women are available and trusted by our church leadership to listen, pray with, read scripture and support any women who would appreciate it.  Please feel free to chat with me or our Parish Councillors involved Helen Ient, Julia Harrison and Laura Burns.

Sausage Sizzle at Bunnings Saturday 3rd February

In 2016 our mighty youth team hosted the Bunnings Kirrawee sausage sizzle and raised over $1000 for their Compassion Child sponsorship. We are doing it again on 3rd February for our ESL and refugee ministry.  Please support George Ward in this and if you can help for an hour please let George know (0405 781 186).

Shire-wide “Jesus is …!” Mission with Moore is just 8 weeks away

How will you take this opportunity? Please pray now for two people you can invite to church this term?
