GAFCON – a remarkable change in the Anglican Church world-wide

The Global Anglican Forum Conference – has already made a remarkable contribution to encouraging Anglican Churches world-wide to honour Jesus and obey the Bible.  GAFCON now represents 70% of the world’s Anglicans and effectively has replaced Lambeth and Canterbury as the effective Anglican Communion.  Peter Jensen has been a leading force under God in this as has our Diocese.  At the recent Jerusalem conference 2000 leaders attended, 180 from Sydney.  9 networks have been set up to progress the cause of Biblical Christianity in the Anglican church.  Help is also being offered to Anglican churches and clergy who have had to withdraw from their local communion.  This has happened when USA, Canada, Scotland and New Zealand Anglicans endorsed same sex marriage and decisively moved away from the authority of God’s word.  Please visit for updates and please pray for this wonderful development

SYNOD – some highlights

Archbishop Davies address was a highlight for me and prophetic. I believe in his analysis of global developments and our response – you can read it or listen to it online.  Synod also decided to give Bathurst Diocese $250,000pa for 6 years from the diocese property leasing, to help Bathurst get back on its feet financially and ministry wise. Please pray for the election of a new bishop there in 2019 and for more pastors to move to that Diocese to plant new churches and develop existing ones.  Other decisions were made regarding safe ministry, responding to domestic violence, human sexuality, the limitations of use of church property etc.  Please speak with our Synod reps for more details. We are grateful for your prayer support.

PC met on Thursday night and deeply appreciates your prayers.  Most time was spent on 2019 budget matters and PC wishes to thank our members for your continued financial support.  Given that we have been over budget this year PC was able to respond to a number of urgent requests outside our budgeted expenditure.  Council decided to give to support:

  • $2000 to SBCE in 2018-19 for high school SRE.
  • $2000 in 2018 to our mission partners Andy & Nicolle Donaldson who are in danger of missing their student summer missions due to lack of funding.
  • $2000 to Evan Moses in 2019 for his compulsory overseas student mission as part of his training at Moore College.

Council asks me to alert our members that both SBCE and the Donaldsons are behind budget at present.  The Donaldsons need $7000 before Christmas to get their finances back on track.

 In Christ, Graham Crew
