Fathers’ Day with the Toulmins-1st September
Dr Graham and Wendy Toulmin, CMS missionaries in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, will be with us Sunday 1st September. Don’t miss this rare insight into how God is working in this most war-torn nation.
Their latest bulletin is available from the church foyer.
Big Weekendaway 2019 and 2020
Thanks to God for answered prayer for our wonderful Parish Weekend together. Around 80 members joined in over the weekend culminating in combined church and dinner on Sunday night, with chefs Diane & George!
Weekend Away is our annual Church camp. It’s the one time in our year where we go away together as one big Church family – whether it’s just for a day or for the whole weekend. Every year it’s an incredible time together – young and old brothers and sisters in Christ, from all five of our congregations spend time in the Royal National Park sitting under God’s Word, praying, singing praise, deepening friendships, and encouraging and spurring one another on – as well just having fun together around food and activities. It really is a precious and unique opportunity for us to have something we can often miss week to week: time together. Please continue to pray for this precious ministry (that happened last weekend!) and for wisdom for the team moving forward as to how best to run it.
Dr Ron Bonamy – another birthday and a wonderful example
On behalf of us all, I wish Dr Bonamy God’s richest blessing today on his 98th birthday. How blessed the Shire community and our church family is to have benefitted so much from the godly life and ministry of Dr Bonamy and many others like him. In an age of “church shopping” and “consumer Christianity”, where it’s all about me and my needs, and what I can get out of church, Dr Bonamy and many many other of our aging members stand out as examples of loving commitment to the body of Christ. They have loved God’s family through the good and bad times, the highs and the lows.
We thank God for you!
Your brother in Christ Graham Crew
