February starts with 2 Significant Sundays
Yes I know every Sunday when God’s people meet is important and vital, but especially for the next 2 Sundays. On 2nd February we hold our annual Vision Sunday and 9th February Commissioning Sunday. Each year at this time we focus on what we believe God is calling us to this year and then our willingness to give ourselves afresh to His service here at Gymea Anglican and in our city.
This year (2,9,16 February) we begin by asking who are we at Gymea Anglican and who do we want to be. Then we spend the rest of the term in Luke’s Gospel.
Personally I love to start the year refreshing our walk with Jesus in one of the Gospels. Then we look at the Christian’s walk in 1 Thessalonians and Acts 17-26. Bishop Reg Piper will share his latest insights into Acts with 5 sermons in June. Term 3 we’ll do some solid digging into the Old Testament, probably Exodus (though this isn’t fixed yet and Craig and I are open to your suggestions). From time to time we look at the Bible’s perspective on recent issues and we are keen to know what our members would like us to consider. What issues are being raised with you at work, sport, home etc that you’d value us preaching on?
Reading, Teaching, Studying & Sharing God’s Word is at the heart of our church
We kick off our sermon series in February on Luke with 3 parables and then work through, till Easter, Reg Piper’s book on Luke under the Question “Who is Jesus?” These sermons will be good to invite friends to who are enquiring into the faith.
Please support our mission partners the Donaldsons
As they move to Sydney to build teams at Sydney Uni and Notre Dame – they’ll need more funding and prayer. Email them at firstname.lastname@example.org to receive their prayer letters. Go to their website Powertochange.org.au/give and donate to their ministry. They will need more funding than they currently receive as they move to Sydney from Brisbane in a few months.
Don’t miss our Parish Prayer Night
Monday 10th February at church – 7.30 to 9pm led by James Archer. Prayer is vital for us to be understanding and achieving God’s purposes. It is a wonderful expression of being the people of God when we gather to pray.
Pub & Grub Night is the next Fathering Project night
Just for dads & grandads & father figures – no kids this time. Monday 3rd February 6pm-9pm Prince Hotel Kirrawee. See Stewart & Matthew for details. See you there.
Life Groups Leaders Meeting
The first for the year is on at the Crew’s place at 8.30am Saturday 1st February.
