About the event

This Sunday Will Be A Great Day To Be At Church!

Sunday is a special day for many reasons.

While many in our parish are in Nowra for our "Weekend Away," enjoying the Book of Revelation under the teaching of Sean Heslehurst, we are blessed to have Rev. Gordon Robison, our Honorary Minister, taking our morning service here in Gymea.

Gordon's friendship and ministry are invaluable to me. He has been a constant source of wisdom and support, and I am incredibly grateful for his presence in my life.

Ministry can be challenging, and having someone like Gordon around makes it more manageable and rewarding.

Sunday's service is also special because we welcome Stu Crawshaw back to Gymea. Stu will be preaching from the Gospel of John about the woman at the well being offered living water by Jesus. Stu served faithfully at Gymea Anglican for many years, building up a vibrant youth and young adults ministry. Now, he leads Soul Revival, a church based in Kirrawee with gatherings throughout the Shire and even as far as Ryde. We are thrilled to partner with Stu and have him back in the parish.

Finally, we are celebrating a birthday. Last week, we marked Dr. Bonamy's 103rd birthday and Margaret Newland's 93rd. Today, we celebrate another milestone for Gordon Robison. I won't reveal his age, but I can say that his wisdom and friendship have been a tremendous blessing to me.

Beside my desk, I have a prayer by Martin Luther that I pray often. It resonates with me deeply and is relevant to every pastor:

Lord God, You have made me a pastor in your church. You see how unfit I am to undertake this great and difficult responsibility, and if it were not for your help, I would have ruined it all long ago. Therefore I cry to you for aid. I offer my mouth and my heart to your service. I desire to teach the people, and, for myself, that I will learn evermore, and diligently meditate on your word. Use me as your instrument but never forsake me, for if I am left alone I will easily bring it all to destruction. Amen.

What a blessing it is to have someone like Gordon, who has walked with God far longer and more faithfully than I have. I thank God for Gordon and Stu! Today is truly a great day to be at church, and I am glad you are here to share it with us.

Coming Soon: Sermon Series on Ezekiel

After our Weekend Away, we're excited to dive into a new sermon series on the Old Testament book of Ezekiel. Ezekiel may not be among the most famous biblical figures, but his story is both fascinating and profound. While some may only know him from the old song “Dry Bones,” there’s so much more to discover about this intriguing prophet. Join us in August as we explore the powerful and captivating prophecies of Ezekiel.

God Bless You Today!

May the Lord supply your every need according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19).

Your friend in Jesus,

David
