At Gymea Anglican, we are driven by a simple yet powerful mission: we love Jesus, we love each other, and we love Gymea. These three pillars form the foundation of our church, guiding every aspect of our life together. In practical terms they push us in three directions:
Upward, as we exalt God (Love Jesus);
Inward, as we edify one another (Love Each Other);
Outward, as we evangelise the world (Love Gymea).
To help us love outwardly, we’ve come up with a local mission strategy using the acronym LOVE.
L - Lift in Prayer
Our first step is to LIFT IN PRAYER. Choose two people you know who don’t know Jesus and commit to praying for them for two minutes each day. That’s it! Simple, right? But deeply impactful. Imagine if every one of us prayed for two people; for a church our size that would mean 400 people being brought before God in prayer each day! How brilliant! And what a powerful way for our hearts to align with God's heart; to love the lost!
O - Open Your Life
The next step is to OPEN YOUR LIFE. Engage with your friends and neighbours, share life with them, and build genuine relationships. Show Christ's love through your actions and create a welcoming community. Opening your life allows your faith to shine in meaningful ways.
V - Voice the Gospel
VOICE THE GOSPEL by sharing its message in your interactions and living out its principles. Demonstrate the hope and love found in the gospel through your daily life. Speak about answered prayers. Speak about what’s happening at church lately. Speak about your hope. Voicing the gospel means making it central to how you connect with others.
E - Extend an Invitation
Finally, EXTEND AN INVITATION. Invite those you've been praying for and connecting with to join our church community. Here, they can hear the gospel clearly articulated, experience Christ's love, and have the opportunity to commit their lives to the Lord. Extending an invitation means welcoming others to explore faith within a supportive community.
By following the LOVE strategy - lifting in prayer, opening your heart, voicing the gospel, and extending an invitation - we can effectively share Jesus' love and message with our community. Let's commit to this together and see what God will do!
